This submission from Breanna Schumacher was such a great reminder of how important it is to get in front of the camera from time to time. I would love to have more images like these of me with my babies.
The mother/daughter combo in the photos is actually me & my daughter. I have two wonderful kiddos & a loving husband, but I hardly ever get to be included in the photos, as I’m the one usually taking them (I’m not complaining, though, since that’s what I love to do!). I didn’t do self-portraits with our son when he was a baby, which was mostly due to my fear of feeling silly. I decided to not let that fear stand in my way this time. It began with a maternity shot I did while 8 months pregnant (I attached it at the end, just so you could see how I wanted to keep the same timeless/black & white feel for these photos as well). For this shoot, I set aside some time in the morning for just me and her where we could just hang out in the space we feel most comfortable. No fancy clothes, no big hairbows, & no expectations. Just us and the camera.
My goal was to capture some photos of us together, but what I walked away with was priceless images that will always be near and dear to my heart. It’s us just being ourselves and enjoying time together.[blogshow id=c7c0 player=0 autoplay=0 toolbar=1]
