This shoot is the epitome of beautiful summer days.  And seriously insane.   And the swim suits?  Shabby Apple. If you haven't looked at their stuff, well, you are missing out.

I asked Ryan Johnson how he got such beautiful shots in the direct sun.  Here is what he said:

“As far as photographers tips about shooting in full sun……………  one word…. FILM  🙂
This set was actually shot with a variety of different films (Kodak Portra 160, Portra 400, Ektar 100, and Fuji 400H), and that just goes to show that no matter the film, there is a range and tonality in film that cannot be duplicated or replaced.  FILM + direct sunlight = pure awesomeness! :)”

Oh and this photo shoot was originally done for INK magazine.  A pretty cool mag if you want to check them out.

  • I LOVE Shabby Apple. I would buy everything on their site if I had the cash. 🙂 Beautiful pics. I didn’t realize that using film was so different than digital. I might have to give it a try.
