Let the Secret Be Revealed — Captures for Keeps

Michelle Condne shot a first for me.. a baby reveal session.  I have to admit I had never heard of one, but the photos came out so nicely and I liked the originality of the idea.  Baby reveal makes me laugh because if I did a baby reveal session with my last pregnancy (Number 4), there would have been horrified faces looking back at me.. not happy ones.  Somehow once you have had one or two children, people are not so much “congratulations” but “whatever is wrong with you”… or “haven’t you heard of birth control?” or “are you just going to keep having them?”  (comments I did in fact receive).  In fact, I kept it a secret for as long as I could to avoid those comments.

Anyway, makes me laugh at myself.. while these photos makes me smile with this family’s obvious happiness.
“It was so much fun to capture the Kirk family – not only because they are super sweet with one another, but also because some of the images from their session were used to reveal that they are expecting baby #3! I know that as this family grows, they will always be able to cherish the emotions they felt during this evening.

“Shot on a Contax 645 with a mix of Fuji 400H, Portra 400 and Portra 800 films.”   Some of my own personal favorite films.

If you want to know why I choose this submission, it was that last shot of their feet. With the cute socks.. and all the different styles. The whole shoot was good, lighting was nice, cute poses but that foot shot sold it to me.   Its just a totally discretionary thing. But I wish I had shot it, so I said YES.
