Maybe because I have a three year old who lives in Spiderman t-shirts, this session resonated with me. Some kids just have their favorite clothes and well, that is it. They are not wearing anything else. And that's what the parents will remember and what should be up on the wall. Because this boy is just showing up as himself.
Deb Schwedhelm did a fantastic job capturing the spirit of this family and the playfulness of the kids.
Deb met Melissa Jamieson (the mom in the photographs) when Melissa was only 12 years old. The session took place at one of Deb's favorite places to shoot, Crystal Pier. To take advantage of the magical last bit of light, the session started 1-1/2 hours before sunset. Deb always encourages her clients to dress as they normally would for their session, along with encouraging them to bring accessories, lovies, their favorite toy, etc. All photographs were shot with nikon D3S and 50mm f/1.4G.
