From Leanne Vice:
When I pulled up to a gorgeous all-white house with HUGE windows it was like the photo gods had smiled upon me! This family couldn’t have made this house more perfectly suited to a lifestyle session than if they’d built it themselves.
As it turns out, dad, James, actually had built it! He is a local home builder and as you can see, he does really beautiful work (also, he is from New Zealand and he has an awesome accent). Lauren had everyone ready to be in the photos when I arrived. I loved that including the whole family in baby Jack’s newborn session was a priority for her.
Big sister Vivian is four and she was so good! I tried to rotate family shots with times where I would just get photos of Jack so that she could have frequent breaks. She loved handing him toys to play with which was SO incredibly sweet.
I love photographing newborn sessions in client’s homes because it is so much less stress than getting everyone out of the house. If someone needs a snack, the kitchen is right there! I have three children myself and I can tell you from experience that there is an adjustment period after each new baby, and you have to reset your expectations about how long it takes to get everyone ready and out of the house. It makes for a much more enjoyable session when you can just skip all that.
Lauren and James’ design aesthetic is so simple, clean, and beautiful and it really was a joy to photograph their family in the house that they have built and built their family in. I’ve since been back to photography baby Jack’s 6 month session which the whole family took part in again. It has been wonderful meeting this family and watching their kiddos grow!
