It’s amazing the things we remember from our childhood.
Funny enough, those memories deeply etched in my mind are the simplest moments with my family. Not those big vacations (while those are always nice!) or fancy day-trips but rather the quality of our time together.
My parents always had time for me. They made me feel good and special and so very loved. I can’t thank them enough for this.
As an adult, I realize how hard this must have been. There are a million things to get done during the day. But I remember how wonderful it felt to have their undivided attention, to hang out together, to chat, and to laugh. Pretty special memories that I am forever grateful for.
Photographing this wonderful family embraced all of that. Simple, pure, heartfelt moments that unfolded one after the other.
I was in awe at the way they interacted and treated each other. Such kindness, such consideration. Such love. It really was beautiful on another level.
The mother of this wonderful family, Sydney Scott, share with me, “One of my favorite things to do with the kids is to bake cookies, so we did just that.
Generous amounts of flour clapped into the air and landed on lashes and noses, bits of dough disappeared into little mouths as we rolled it out, snickering and secrets passed between sisters, and many many breaks to snuggle and devour the cheeks of the newest addition to our family.
Life can get so chaotic, so these are the moments I want to remember. Their personality (naughty and adorable), tiny teethy smiles, mischievous dimpled hands, fuzzy baby hair, laughter, tears and all. Where time freezes and my mommy heart melts.”
