Let the Sunflowers Shine –Jacquelyn Poussot

Jacquelyn Poussot shot this amazing engagement shoot in Yellow Springs, Ohio.  I am officially jealous. No sunflower fields around Maui that I know of.  She shot Tiffany &  John at a dairy, which sound so fun to me.  Congrats to the couple on their very soon to be wedding!

Thanks for hanging with us today,

Let the Couple Shine — Lizzie Metcalf

Lizzie Metcalf from Swonderfulphotos is So Wonderful!  I love her style and use of light.

We talked about Lizzie on Monday, click here if you missed it.

“There is nothing more magical to me than being in a beautiful place with a giddy couple! Meet Caleb and Alicia. They met in college. She loves old things, and so does he. She loves photography, and he loves her..

But most of all they love each other. We started out with a bite to eat at Johnny Rockets, headed over to the nearby vintage soda & candy store, Rocket Fizz. This was really one of the most fun shoots I’ve had. Their love just pours out through each picture, each conversation, and each moment.

I barely had to give any posing aside from occasional “direction”. Because they’re just naturally cute. From there we headed out to this perfect location down the street with these dreamy trees, and the closest thing to a lake that we have in our sunny little suburban town. Just a little farther down the road we then proceeded to the finale (the field).

My main direction when working with couples is to always be aware of their body language. To make each moment, movement, and detail purposeful. I just want my couples to have a closeness that is read through the lens, at all times. Which was practically no work at all with these two. I love meeting couples that love good photography, but more importantly, love each other more than all the ‘stuff‘.

I generally also try and shoot wide & low, always with backlighting and making the most of that brilliant sun! These were shot with a Canon Mark II 5D, mostly at f/1.2, and f1.4-1.6 if needed.

Come back tomorrow when we show you how photographers are giving back in their communities.

FUNKY FLORIDA WEDDING – Jessica Lorren

Oh we are lucky today.  This girl is one of my favs. Jessica Lorren — Organic Photography.
With a gorgeous and fun wedding worthy of any wedding blog out there.
We are so happy to show this today.  Amazing photography.
How long have you been shooting?
My whole life, but professionally about three and a half years.

Why do you shoot?  What drives you?  What inspires you?
To me, the most precious moments are the ones that happen naturally. When you reflect back on your favorite memories, they are about emotions and experiences. Those are the moments I long to capture. I want to portray people being who they are, reflecting how they feel, and doing what they love. To me, that is true organic beauty – simple, natural and real.

Do you shoot film or digital?

Mainly film but I do use digital for some parts of the wedding day as well.
I use a lot of Fuji 400h for weddings because the color and contrast are soft and lovely. I shoot them 1-2 stops over and have been really happy with the results.
Favorite time of day to shoot and why? Favorite light to shoot in?
I prefer to shoot my portrait sessions in the morning. The light is softer and as a morning person, the whole world seems slightly more magical.
Favorite place to shoot and why?
Italy. There is just something so romantically enchanting about that country and the light, it will take your breath away.
What personal work do you shoot?
Travel. I am so inspired by adventure and travel truly makes me come alive. And boats, I seem to shoot a lot of those too.
Best piece of advice you could give to a new photographer?
Be consistent. Brides need to know they can trust what you do and the only way to do that is by being consistent. Find your voice and then stay true to it. –
