A Happy Homecoming – Aria Bethards

In light of yesterday’s sad events in Boston, this was a perfect post to feature.  No matter how ugly the world can be, there are always people that help, always people that make sacrifices. I am so glad that today we can celebrate the homecoming of such a person and family.  This homecoming was photographed by Aria Bethards of Aria Photography. Thank you for sharing!

From Aria: I woke up yesterday to a frosty morning and butterflies in my stomach. I knew it was a day for something magical. My dear friend and her three little children were finally going to see their brave soldier return after a year in Afghanistan. As I stood in the huge hangar with hundreds of anticipating families, my heart was full. What a tremendous sacrifice. I am blessed to have been a part of this special day.

Tanja Lippert – In LOVE – and a Giveaway to Indie Film Lab

Tanja Lippert never fails to dissapoint.  In case you have been living under a rock the last year, Tanja is one of the stars of The Film Show on the Framed Network and an amazing wedding and portrait photographer.  Her workshop is on my to do list and I’m trying my best to make it happen this summer.

This is such a great session… amazing creativity and technique.  And the t-shirt just killed it for me.

From Tanja:

All my sessions are full day sessions and we style a variety of looks and utilize a variety of locations. For this shoot, the couple are homebodies and LOVE hanging together at their beautiful apartment in San Francisco. We created a whole series of shots inside their apartment and then went out to one of their favorite hiking trails to shoot the outdoor images. Michelle and Matt are the couples names and I get to shoot their wedding in May.

For gear: I use a combo of Fuji and Kodak films, Contax 645 & Nikon F100 cameras for this shoot. I used the following film stocks: Fuji 400 pro, Kodak 800, Kodak 160, Kodak 3200, Kodak 400CN.

And hey we feel like giving away something…so go

1. like our facebook page, and

2. leave us a comment below raving about Tanja and telling us you liked us,

and we will randomly pick a person to WIN a $50 certificate to Indie Film Lab (where Tanja’s film is developed and scanned).

And don’t forget to pick Jonathan Canlas’s Biz Guide to Shooting if you haven’t already. LAST DAY FOR THE SALE PRICE OF $199!.  Its never going to this low again.

Some great strategies on how to make money with your photography.  And we wouldn’t recommend it if we hadn’t bought it ourselves and loved it. (and yes we make a penny or two on your purchase).

Maternity Made Hip – Jillian Mitchell

WOW! I’m kind of geeking out over this set of images…..this little family looks like SO much fun, and Jillian Mitchell really captured that about them. Love the instants, love the black and whites, love everything about these!

These images were shot with a Contax 645, Polaroid 110b, and a Holga(one of my personal favorite cameras) with Kodak Portra 400, 800, and Tri-x, as well as Fuji 100c and 3000b for the instants.

From Jillian:

I got a chance to shoot a friend of mine’s maternity photos which ended up turning into a family shoot since they are all so attractive!

Andrea and Gaby are amazing wedding planners down here in Sayulita, Mexico (Sayulita Dream Weddings) and they are rock and roll through and through. Maternity photos aren’t really my thing, but I knew that I couldn’t pass up a chance to capture these guys on film and they did not disappoint. I even pulled out the Holga and the Polaroid as well. It was so successful that I just went back to document their new little one Druscilla!
