is a Let the Kids Favorite for a very good reason, her ability to convey so much emotion in a single image is incredible. Her images prove that you don’t need an hour or two, you don’t need props, you don’t even have to have a great location to take beautiful photos. You just need love, passion, and a purpose.
From Amy: “I love that these photos were taken totally spontaneously. Both kids fully dressed themselves for a drive on which we didn’t quite know our destination. Our options were limited with a toddler who refuses a shirt most days. We were on our way to a winery and didn’t make it because of the amazing, warm light that was pouring over these hills. We pulled over to the side of the road and both of them went running, my daughter danced, then found the picnic blanket from the car, my son found a stick. They did their thing, and it is as magical as anything I could have conceived beforehand. I love to shoot into the sun these days, as it gives the images a glow that I truly feel, taking them. They don’t pose, but I talk and chase and just watch. There is a trust between us, that is a gift.”

“These images, for me, represent the soul of my kids. Our lives, like most others, are far from serene, far from perfect, full of a beautiful, loud, unpredictable mess. But at the core of that is a deeply rooted love, a grounding force that keeps us tethered to each other, and it is the closest thing to peace I know.”The nitty gritty: shot within the course of ten minutes, on a nikon d700 and my sigma 50mm 1.4.
