I’m sure all you wedding photographers out there know who Trent Bailey is (and if you don’t, you should!), but you might not know that he and his wife Dara, the chic duo behind Trent Bailey Photography, shoot families with the same beautiful attention to detail and emotion as their weddings. This gorgeous family session, shot all on film in NYC, left me nostalgic for the streets of New York that I miss so much. I really love that Trent & Dara took a step back from family sessions in order to shoot them the way they really want to!
From Trent: For the shoot Dara and I used the Contax 645, our favorite camera the Rolleiflex 2.8F (the pretty whiteface edition), and the Nikon F100. Various films were used, but most were kodak 160, kodak 800, and our favorite fuji 400h.
The shoot was was with our great friends the Wachalter Family. Linsey is the talent behind FaceTime Beauty Concierge
and Jeremy is the chef at Cobblestone Catering
. We are so blessed to have gotten to know them through the wedding and events industry and really loved spending time with them near their home in brooklyn last fall. We took a trip to the farmers market, bought some veggies, and went to the Brooklyn Promenade with stunning views of Manhattan. After saying we no longer shoot families and concentrated on weddings we slowly started taking family portrait sessions again, this time photographing them completely on film. We have really fallen in love with photographing families again after ditching the digital cameras for these sessions. We have found ourselves to connect more and more with families when we shoot this way.
